At the age of 23, I joined the United States Marine Corps, serving with the 6th Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment.
I entered the military with one purpose:
To protect my country and protect those who could not protect themselves.
During my service, I was deployed to Iraq and experienced many dangerous missions.
To many people, I was a soldier and a protector.
But every battle leaves behind scars.
In 2006, I was wounded during a mission, and my military career came to an end.
Leaving the Marine Corps meant leaving behind the identity and purpose I had known for years.
Then, in 2010, I lost my wife in a tragic accident.
With two children depending on me, I had to find the strength to move forward.
I realized my mission had changed.
I was no longer protecting people on the battlefield.
I was protecting my family.
After many changes in life,
I found my way back to my garden.
One morning, I watched a little bird land among my flowers.
The gentle songs brought back a feeling of peace and warmth I had missed.
Those quiet moments reminded me to slow down, breathe, and enjoy the beauty around me.
I realized a garden is not just about flowers or decorations,
but the memories and emotions created within it.
